Join fellow composers and connect with Detroit's film music community at our upcoming master class. Geared towards both composers and directors—as well as producers, musicians, artists, and anyone else interested in score—this is a unique chance to learn from industry experts and hear more about the Sundance Institute Film Music Program.

This is a free event, and attendance is first-come, first-served, so please arrive early. Please bring a photo ID, as alcohol will be served.

Kathryn Bostic
Kathryn Bostic is an award-winning composer and singer/songwriter known for her work on film (including Dear White People and Middle of Nowhere), TV, and live theatre. She is an alum of the Sundance Institute Film Music Program's Composers Lab and Music and Sound Design Lab: Documentary.

Jongnic Bontemps
Jongnic Bontemps, aka JB, is a classically trained composer from Brooklyn, New York, with roots in the church and jazz worlds as a pianist. He studied music at Yale, Berklee, and the University of Southern California and has composed music for over 50 projects spanning film, TV, and video games, including many award-winning projects. JB is a Sundance Music and Sound Design Lab Fellow and a Time Warner Artist Fellow.

George S. Clinton
George S. Clinton is an award-winning composer known for such films as the Austin Powers series, among over 100 others. He is an advisor at the Sundance Music and Sound Design Labs and is the chair of the Film Scoring Department at the Berklee College of Music.

Peter Golub
Peter Golub is the director of the Sundance Institute Film Music Program and an award-winning composer of film scores, theatre, and concert works.

Jarom Rowland
Jarom Rowland is the senior manager of the Sundance Institute Film Music Program, where he oversees residential Music And Sound Design Labs and programs music for the Sundance Film Festival.

Sterling Toles
Sterling Toles is a Detroit sonic and visual artist and a 2016 Kresge Fellow. He has produced music for Detroit acts Boldy James and Invincible and has scored short films and documentaries including Our School and Brewster Douglass, You're My Brother.

Nicole Churchill
Nicole Churchill is the director of music supervision and licensing, A&R consultant, and co-founder of Assemble Sound. She has worked on supervising and creating original compositions for branded and story-based projects with companies like Fox, Netflix, Comedy Central, Chevy, HBO, MTV, and Sony Pictures, and her work has been featured in major marketing campaigns, hit TV shows, film trailers, and corporate reels for almost a decade.

Ahya Simone
Ahya Simone is a Detroit-based harpist, singer, composer, and artist. She studied at Wayne State University, where she served as the principal harpist for the wind symphony in 2010. She performs for local and international events and is a co-founder of the Trans Sistas of Color Project in Detroit.
